Camellia

Meet Camellia…

When my boyfriend and I moved to BC, I was going to school part time and working part time at a coffee shop. We moved to a little cottage on the beach but my boyfriend had lost his job and we could no longer afford the place. He didn’t tell me about this problem until two days before our rent was due. I saw an ad in the newspaper and it said that a girl could make $300-$1000 per night dancing. I mentioned it to my boyfriend – I said that I could just do it for two days to make the rent money and then quit. He agreed, so I called the ad on Thursday and by Sunday I had made $1700. Guess who quit the coffee shop!

Am I ashamed of telling people what I do for a living? Absolutely!  Only because of the circles I travel in now. I’m a soccer mom and I would be mortified if the other parents found out. I only regret getting into this business now that I’m a mother. God forbid my daughter got any scrutiny because of me. This job isn’t main stream and when some people find out that I’m a dancer, they treat me like I’m a prostitute. I plan on dancing for a couple more weeks and then I’m out. I’m thinking of going back to school and study nursing.
