Author Romana Van Lissum was born in Karvina, Czechoslovakia. When the Russians invaded their country, her parents escaped with her to Canada when she was only nine months old. She grew up in Edmonton but resides in Maple Ridge, BC where she lives on 2 ½ acres with a dog, a cat, two horses, her beautiful daughter Kelsey and her incredible husband Rod, of 21 years. As an accomplished horsewoman and long-time animal lover, Romana competes in 25 and 50 mile endurance rides and loves to spend as much time as possible training her horse on the trails near her home. She is an advocate of treating all animals with kindness and respect. She also enjoys studying natural horsemanship, yoga, meditation, reading, traveling and spending time with her wonderful friends and family.
